I just replaced the plugs and coil packs on my 2016 granted it’s the 2.4l engine but I purchased the Delphi coil packs and they seem to work great and solved my misfire issue (80k miles on the odometer).
I ran this on my AP1 and it worked greats
I work at a BMW specific shop and all we run are the Bosch coils. I personally have them in my E46 M3 and 325ix. We've sold 1000s of them with zero issues.
I was told once by a distributor of many brands including Motorcraft that Bosch made the Triton coils. Our group sold thousands of them, with very little trouble.
Get the Delphi coils, no need to buy genuine BMW.
All 4 coils (they´re now Bosch red color)
my first bmw was a 2007 328i and kept having misfire issues. Tried 6 new coils from autozone, still had misfire issues, returned them and ordered Bosch. Misfire was gone.
I assumed it was bad and while it was sad to get rid of the OE Bosch, Autozone had a C831 coil that I was able to pick up. I think the boot was slightly too small but I’m 90% sure it’s making contact but I am still not getting it to arc.
I believe Delphi is what people switched over to because the Bosch coils were failing.
They’re made by Delphi but they are different internally than the Delphi gn10571 or whatever they are, in the aftermarket. I had misfire issues and strange electrical feedback with Delphi aftermarket.
