Ignition coil APR or OEM Volkswagen

APR Ignition coil

I have 75K on my CC Sport with APR Stage1+ Tune. I recently changed my plugs and put APR coils in not sure if got any real power but the car feels so much better. At $27 a coil why not use APR?

Pros: car feels so much better
Cons: not sure if got power
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 75000 km

FWIW, I got an APR Stage 1+ tune on my '13 CC at about 30k miles. Blew one of the stock coils within a month. Replaced with red tops and new plugs and have been good since then (19k miles).

Pros: good since then
Cons: blew stock coils
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 30000 km

Every wet rain or slushy day, my 97 2.0 would quit or not start at all. Sprayed everything individually and figured it was the ignition coil cause it had hairline fractures. I replaced my ignition coil, but it still gave me troubles.

Cons: still gave me troubles

As stated APR coils are know to not be as good as OE/OEM. I have seen a lot of people with APR coils chasing misfires and the replace with OEM and it’s fixed. Even with new APR this has happened.

Cons: chasing misfires
