There's nothing wrong with the Depo smoked Vento e-codes. You just have to put a bead of black silicone around the edges where the glass meets the plastic housing for preventative watertight measures and they're fine.
For the exterior my money goes to headlights with accent lights started by BMW and Audi and then copied by every manufacturer out there.
DEPO are absolutely fine; they're not an OEM manufacturer for BMW, but they are for plenty of other brands so you shouldn't have the same concerns as you would with aftermarket rubbish. I've pulled them off scrapyard E30s before and they've been in better condition than the original stuff.
I'm happy with the quality, was a lot less than Hellas, been using them for 4 years with no issue, protected the lenses with film as they are glass, also fitted with HIDs
3 years with DEPO smileys. Euro spec H1. no fogging/condensation. The wiring at the back of the cap started to come undone but I hit it with a blob of hot glue and it was fine. Switched from H1 to LED bulbs, works great.
I own these and they are great! I converted my Z to an aftermarket HID kit with these headlights and they are top notch. Bright clean light output, bright turn signal. Basically a clone of the newer 350Z housings but they do get a little humidity when I spray water on them from washing the car. That's the only downside in my opinion. A little light does leak through the gray area around the projector because I guess the paint is a little thin. You only notice this with the headlights on staring at them super up-close at night. No one is going to notice this.
Can someone who has these newer DEPO angel eye headlights tell me how to adjust or aim the headlights? Just finished doing a Getta conversion and a respray and want to get my darn headlights right! I see the big white knob on the top and the black knob on the bottom. But after turning the white knob on the top, I was only able to get a tiny bit of adjustment. I could not easily turn the bottom black knobs. I know headlight adjustment knobs move very slowly in the adjustments - so I'm asking after spending minutes turning the whiet knobs for little change. My driver's side beam is directly pointing at oncoming traffic but aiming low. Passnger side needs to be lowered and centered too. I'd love to have my headlights adjusted so I can see if these Osram Silverstars are really the shizel
I replaced my OEM headlights a few years ago with DEPOs (absolute crap) lights after an accident and the insurance wouldn't pay for OEMs. After a few years of degrading visibility (spiderweb cracks throughout the plastic covers/lenses and crappy reflectors to begin with) I'm tired of not being able to see at night. * NOTE * NEVER BUY DEPO LIGHTS guys.
I replaced the stock headlamps with Depo black euro headlights and was fine for 6 months, then the bulb recently blew up again! Shards of glass ruined the almost new headlamp! The wiring must be iffy since there has been some meltage, my guess is too much current on the right side.
I had Depo with fogs on my GTI when I had it and with the fogs on (which are integral to the headlight) the heat from the fog melted the housing right in front. It looked like a cigarette burn right in front of the lense.
