I think I got TYC housings from rock auto for about $300. No issues with aiming them and the cut off was much more clear than my faded oem lights. They came with bulbs but the headlights were really dim so I replaced them. At first had some moisture problems but that went away. Think they have capa certification also.
I just replaced mine with the TYC ones from rockauto.
The quality of the injection molding on the backs is obviously a little different from the originals, but the optics are at least good. Overall I'm pretty happy with them
I installed TYC headlights for $170 from rock auto. I can speak for the TYC lights being good.
I have a set of my 9th gen si and fitment was damn near OEM.
I replaced my worn out cloudy/mildewed headlight bodies on my 2006 CVPI with these TYC replacement OEM-look headlights from Rock Auto. So far, they've worked really well for the 4 months I've had them installed. No leaks/condensation or short circuits/failures. They were really useful on long drives (4-6 hours) at night or early morning where there aren't any streetlights for long stretches on the highway. The only complaint I have is the "high beams" just seem like a change in point of aim (higher), rather than increased illumination.
I’ve used TYC and they were good. I couldn’t tell any difference between them and oem.
For anyone looking to do a headlight swap on a first gen these are the (TYC) lights I purchased:
Just finished the install and I have noticed 2 things on this Helix unit. 1. When the low-beams are in use they seem to run at a lower power. 2. When turning on the high-beams it also makes the low-beams run at their apparent normal full power.
Either way these no name aftermarkets have to go lol. Someone on here can have them for free once i get these Hellas put in. Kind of shocked at how terrible they are. The company that sells them is PERDE, but if you look closely at the housing they are really TYC's. As a mechanic, I used TYC for simple stuff before like a radiator or maybe a blower fan etc. This is my first time using one of their headlights. Certain things just arent good aftermarket, headlights being one of them apparently lol.
In my experience they're pretty bad. I had to replace my stock headlights '03 9-3(because all the clips that held the low beams where broken off) I went from barley being able to see at night to still not really being able to see at night. Another problem was the TYCs were missing a piece at the bottom so there was a pretty big panel gap between the bumper and light. The one good thing about them was the headlights themselves looked great.
Edit: As a broke HS student I put weather stripping between the panel gap, and that made it look pretty good. This was 6 years ago they might have improved, but I kinda doubt it
