Fuel pump DELPHI or WALBRO

DELPHI Fuel pump

If you replace the fuel pump, a Delphi in line fuel pump for an 89 Ford F250 is effectively the same...just be sure to not mix up the pos/neg terminals.

Pros: effectively the same
Cons: mind pos/neg terminals
Vehicle: Ford

The fuel filter is built into the pump assembly. They are basically non serviceable. I recommend the Delphi brand. A lot of those cheaper pumps will last about one year.

Pros: Delphi brand recommended
Cons: cheaper pumps short life

Yesterday I changed the fuel pump. After changing the fuel pump, I put the pump relay back in, turned the key to ON and listened for the pump to prime. After about 3 seconds, I turned the ignition on and the car started right up! I shut it off, cleaned up my mess, and about 20 minutes later I hopped in and started the car again. No issues. I drove it around the neighborhood and the thing runs great! That cutting out/lag/surging was gone, the engine felt powerful again, and the fuel gauge was back to working.

Pros: engine felt powerful, fuel gauge working
Cons: hard start after sitting
Mileage: 160000 km
Part number: DFG1003

WALBRO Fuel pump

oh its some fun getting the screw cap back on the tank. the problem is a stock pump the line sits horizontal and with the walbro it sits vertical. it requires some force and patience to get it in.

Pros: vertical line sits
Cons: requires force, patience

Fuel-pump... intank Walbro 255lph gave it all up today as well.. i knew this was gonna happen so i alway drive with one extra stock pump just in case.. been there b4.. I can now feel a bit diffret performance with th stock pump and this setup... Car runs more rough in the engine.. and jerks sometime.. i don't even think the stock pump is good to handle 100% 95 octane fuel.. i recommend over and over dimensioned when touching 300hp... on 95 octane... The inline walbro solution should be good.. as mentioned b4 in this forum.. I have an Bosch 044 in the garage that im gonna try in tank. Think the intank walbro runns fine with E85 if you run 150hp.. but with 300hp.. it have to work the as off to deliver E85.. with poor lubrication

Pros: fine for 150hp E85
Cons: failed at 300hp E85, poor lubrication
