Fuel pump DELPHI or Bosch

DELPHI Fuel pump

I've come across another option and I was not convinced until Advance Auto actually delivered it and it fit the stock (NA 2+0) assembly. Let me present to you the Delphi FE0161 pump and sock... Yes, it comes with the rubber shell and mounting ears, plus the pickup hose and sock as shown... And my 300ZX is back to a smooth idle and no hiccups on acceleration. Backstory is I had tried an aftermarket generic pump and modified the assembly to fit, but it lasted just two years (<2000 miles) and died.

Pros: fits stock assembly, smooth idle, no hiccups
Vehicle: Nissan
Part number: FE0161

Bosch Fuel pump

I used this one for my 02/1996 xj. The Delphi pump it comes with died after 2 weeks so I swapped it with a Bosch pump. It’s been working no problem for 2 years now

Pros: working for 2 years
Cons: Delphi pump died
Vehicle: Jeep

Bosch Fuel pump

Another suggestions though I will admit not ideal you can get fuel surge tanks for very cheap on Smeebay load it up with a Bosch pump and they can work for some engines depending on your fuel pressure and flow needs. I have gone this route before before I could get my hands on a Mk3 fuel tank with the intank pump setup, however I will say without the proper isolation between the surge tank and chassis the noise from the pump can be annoying. At the end of the day the surge tank didnt leak and worked well for about a year before I scored 2 Mk3 tanks for my projects.

Pros: didnt leak, worked well
Cons: pump noise can be annoying

If this pump wasn’t leaking, I doubt it would have run properly. Some parts weren’t moving freely.… the governor collar needed to be pried off, lubed, and exercised to slide normally. Advance piston was also frozen.

Pros: cleaner than before
Cons: parts weren't moving freely

I had this problem for well over a year, then my fuel pump died. Installed a Bosch because I felt the stalling problem, after lots of research, could be due to faulty pumps ..even new ones. The car didn't stall again under 1/4 tank for many months until all of a sudden, it did it again ..a few times.

Pros: no stalling for many months
Cons: stalling returned

DELPHI Fuel pump

Something happened to Delphi's quality the last couple of years. Used to use them a lot, but the last few pumps I've gotten from them have been complete shit.

Cons: complete shit

I’m replacing the fuel pump in my 02 suburban. I’ve got a Delphi fuel pump going in that I bought off rockauto. First thing I noticed was one of the plugs are different. Ask about it, they’ve got a new style plug cuz the only ones broke a lot. Nbd got the new plug, looked up how to wire it. It’s color matched on the wires in my truck cool. So I wire up the new plug, get the pump in the tank, go to prime the pump and nothing. No noise from the pump at all. I check all my fuses, and made sure I’ve got power at the plug. Alls good so far but the pump ain’t doing anything.

Cons: pump not working, different plug style
Vehicle: Chevrolet Suburban
