Plastic ones made by Wix or similar brand are good, wouldnn't recommend cheap no-name ones, no guarantee that the plastic in those is suitable. Wix/similar are not a firehazard if fitted properly.
I went with mahle from fcp, job is easy the only thing I can bitch about is the metal plate covering it
I just run the usual small inline deals, Wix or Beck/Arnley filters.
The responses inspired me to replace my fuel filter. I went for a drive and it seems like the engine sounds much smoother.
all pumps are Carter brand and the fuel filter is Mahle.
You should just buy the Mahle or Mann filter (in that order) and replace the whole thing. Your vacuum line running to it could also be leaking.
Take out the fuel pump assembly again, replace your filter (Mahle KL145) while you're there, and recheck all connections.
Filter is a Mahle, it's the one from VW Parts Place, so I'm daring to assume it's ok
I got a plastic body wix and could not for the life of me get it seal up properly where the filter meets the housing, needless to say I'll be getting a ac Delco and changing it.
I decided to change my fuel filter last weekend, and as soon as I started the Jeep up afterwards, a terrible howl was coming from the fuel filter. After doing some research, it turns out that Wix has made a "bad batch" of fuel filters. I can't say if it's specifically this part # or if it affects others as well, but it's a good idea to avoid their fuel filters altogether for a while.
