Engine oil VALVOLINE or MOTUL
I personally use 5w50 valvoline fully synthetic racing oil for my r56 and change every 5000 km which is like around 3k miles and it's running good
Motul 5w40 X-cess, suggested by multiple reputable indies.
I use Motul classic 20W-50 in all of mine, or some generic 20W-50 oil if I can't find it. If I'm not incorrect the classic has some additives to help with not seeping out of the engine but other than that won't do anything special.
I see a lot of people recommending lighter oils but living in a warm climate this is what works for me.
For the money the best zinc content is valvoline vr1 CONVENTIONAL (not synthetic). It comes in a few flavors.
Motul Xclean EFE 5w30, Xclean gen2 5w40
That said, I use Motul 0W20 in the winter and 5W30 in the summer.
I send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs every single time I change the oil or the dealer changes the oil. As part of that analysis, I pay the few extra bucks for a TBN calculation. On my SQ5 and S3, after running a fill for 10k to 12k, those TBN values always come back greater than 1.0 indicating that there’s still enough remaining additives to continue running that fill for even more miles still.
I use Valvoline 0W-20 full synthetic and an OEM filter.
I just run Motul. 7100/7200 or the 300v.
Years ago I went down the oil rabbit hole and now I recommend motul 7100 4T
