I run Valvoline VR1 20W-50. I believe during cooler seasons you can run a thinner (less viscous) oil.
I use Valvoline R&P 0w-20 and my engine sounds healthy. so does my mom’s Velar. I think whats more important is using the correct viscosity and changing it on time.
Valvoline restore and protect oil or shell rotella t6 oil....
The t6 diesel oil has all the detergents you need to maybe clean out the rings. (And meet the more stringent european standards).
5-30 Valvoline restore & protect is working wonders on my 2.5. Visibly cleaning out deposits and engine running stronger
I switched to valvoline restore and protect on my 06 is250 and it’s working great. The valves are a lot quieter compared to the previous oil I was using which was Kirkland synthetic.
I have a Sohn kit and run Idemitsu engine oil in the engine and Idemitsu premix in the Sohn. Runs lovely and smooth and the original cat is still doing the job.
Quaker State oil is recommended in the Hyundai manual but you can absolutely use other brand too , i have used Mobil 1 / Vavoline / Castrol and Pezoil the end i picked Valvoline high mileage Synthetic oil the best of all all other brand the oil burn brown quickly
I used vavoline for my second oil change and so far so good
We use Idemitsu for engine oil and transmission and red line for front and rear diff. Red line makes a good fluid for the transmission also.
20w 50 Valvoline VR1 is all I use. It’s expensive but because the gearbox and engine use the same oil you need a high zinc oil and VR1 is the best out there in my opinion.
