Engine oil Total or OEM Volkswagen

OEM Volkswagen Engine oil

I've been using these docs for a while now, and am incredibly grateful for you sharing them. With that said, I just noticed something that's news to me. Both the \"Revised Oil Capacity Job Aid\" and the 2012 vs 2013 fluid capacity charts show a 1 qt decrease in engine oil capacity between 2012 and 2013 MY. I've always heard there were insignificant, minor changes between the model years. I've been putting 5ish into my 2012 and it's always been full according to the dipstick.

Pros: grateful for sharing them
Cons: 1 qt decrease in capacity

Total Engine oil

i had previously been using Total Energy 9000 5-40 and had been running it for 2 seasons .i would change out the filter after 1 year and top it up with approx. 3/4 qt of fresh oil. i don't drive a whole lot and had only put on about 9,500 miles in that time. i just switched back to Castrol Edge 5-40 this week.

Mileage: 15289 km

Total Engine oil

Total 5w40 took care of me to 8k with a 3071R. The oil is pretty decent stuff and not terribly expensive. I like their gear lube in my boxes. I run it in everything from my MKIV/B5 to my 07 Impreza 2.5i

Pros: decent stuff, not expensive
Mileage: 8000 km

Given that it's almost guaranteed that this was not a turbo engine originally (the lack of factory air filter is another clue) she'll run hotter than usual and so a quality oil is a good investment.

Pros: quality oil is a good investment
Cons: run hotter than usual

Total Engine oil

I have been running this oil for the past 2 oil changes and its all good! Excellent product since it has been around for ages and it is euro After i drained my oil at 7500k's (4660miles) you could still see through the oil....any other synthetic i have had you could not do that.

Pros: Excellent product, oil still clear
Mileage: 7500 km

We had 50700 VW spec oil in for 4,000 miles on the oil and 4,700 miles on the engine. The iron wear rate was about 15 ppm/1000 miles. The Longlife III oil did have impressive viscosity holding charictaristics. I did not care for the way the oil film of the 50700 wetted surfaces, it fisheyed on plastics.

Pros: impressive viscosity holding
Cons: oil film fisheyed
Mileage: 4000 km
