Shell Engine oil

I'm using Rotella T6 5w40 in my car. For the money, it's one of the better buys for oil since it holds up so well. It's got good additives that don't shear down quickly, decent amounts of zinc and phosphorus, and it works in just about anything - cars, trucks, diesels, bikes with wet clutches, etc.

Pros: holds up so well, good additives
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I use Rotella 5-w40. I've been using it for like 5 years in my 02 1.8t and haven't noticed any wear really at all. I drive pretty aggressive, redline 3+ times a day.

Pros: no noticeable wear, good for aggressive driving
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Part number: 5-W40

Shell Engine oil

When I bought my '80 MB 300SD I did an oil chamge with 15w40 Rotella. The first day it dropped below 35* it struggled to start. Below 25* it needed a few hours of block heater time. I changed it out to 5w40 Rotella T synth and 6 years later I've still never plugged it in, even in -10*F.

Pros: excellent cold start performance, long-term reliability

Shell Engine oil

So far, though, it appears that engine wear and presence of contaminants, as shown by UOAs, are significantly "better" with Rotella T in my car's engine than they were with any other oil I used, and especially Castrol Syntec 5W-40.

Pros: engine wear significantly better
