Engine oil Shell or OEM Volkswagen

Shell Engine oil

Tried Shell Advance Ultra once no complaints, felt a bit quieter overall But I went back to Motul because the bike just felt more responsive with it.

Pros: quieter overall
Cons: less responsive

Rotella T6 15W-40. I’ve used it in all my bikes, cars, lawnmower. It’s the best option if you own lots of motors. Just change it frequently.

Pros: best option, own lots motors

Shell Engine oil

First oil change after filling with T-6 on my 2002 Saab 9-3 (that didn't have a kit on it) I bought with 130k miles on it was really black, almost a bit sludgy. Next few oil changes quickly got better as the detergent broke down sludge in the top end and cleaned the motor up.

Pros: detergent broke down sludge
Cons: oil was sludgy
Vehicle: Saab
Mileage: 130000 km

My previous MK7 GTI used a quart about every 3K miles from the day it was new until I traded it at 212K.

Pros: high mileage achieved
Cons: oil consumption every 3K
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 341180 km

It seems to do a fine job lubricating, but, everything I ever put it in started consuming oil. They all stopped once I switched to other oils.

Pros: fine job lubricating
Cons: started consuming oil
