The oil spec for the 1.8L engine in my 2019 Golf Sportwagen S 4motion is 502.00 (5W40). After my last oil change at the dealer I questioned whether they used the correct oil because the service ticket was written up wrong. The dealer supplied these photos to show how the different grades of oil are actually different colors. The oil on my dipstick was caramel colored, so I knew it was the correct grade for my car after all.
That PN is listed as genuine Volkswagen oil for your vehicle. You’re all good!
I bought a 153K kilometer 81 1.6 GTI and drove it for work to military bases all over Germany. With no restrictions I ran 160-190 kph as much as possible for a few hours at a time. It always used a little oil but I kept it changed with 20W50 dino oil and sold it at 280K still running fine.
36k miles and still not burning a drop between 10k OCI's. I use VW 0W-20 Full Syn 508/509 spec each and every time, until mobil1 releases a Full Syn clone. Noticed a "slight" increase in MPG's with the newer oil.
Its not uncommon for a new Tiguan to use oil. The new oil is really thin. It is VW special, you might as well go to the dealer and purchase a quart.
Im replacing mine soon...though since switching to 5-40 oil (as per recent VW specs) my oil consumption is far less than before.
Once the oil temp reads the temp number, you're all set to do what you please.
I used both rowe 5w30 507.00 and the OEM VW HIGH PERFORMENCE 0w30 (yes 0w30) 507.00
I didnt notice any difference between the two . Wear on my oil analysis was about the same with both oils.
Well, just got back the test results on for our oil analysis, here are the comments: " Nothing showed up in this sample that's too much of a surprise, though aluminum and copper are perhaps a little higher than expected. New parts wearing in tend to leave a lot of metal in the oil and that's what we suspect is going on here. You ran this oil pretty long for factory oil (we realize you were probably only following the oil life monitor). So that's why aluminum and copper are on the high side. No matter--everything should improve now that you've changed this fill. The TBN read 1.9, getting low but still okay. Potassium is from the EGR system. "
Hmm... I just took the car in for its MoT and although it passed, they noticed that the exhaust was smoky and that oil level had been overfilled. The oil was last changed at the car's 40,000 mile service by the same VW dealer and on the invoice they've listed 9 litres of oil.
