Personally I run Lucas oil in mine, not just my current zzr600, but even my older vintage bikes when I had them. It isn’t crazy expensive and is high quality.

Pros: high quality, not expensive

I run Lucas in all 3 holes and my bike has been cooler, less noise and shifts smoother than it did when I got it and it had Harley fluids in it.

Pros: cooler, less noise

It'll be fine, my only argument against it is that you're probably paying too much for that quart. I've always used the Honda GN4 motor oil, buy a gallon for ~$30 when it's time for an oil change and have a little left to spare. Any dealership should carry this, Yamalube is also basically the same thing.

Pros: good price, readily available
Cons: paying too much

Lucas Engine oil

Right now I have some Lucas High Performance, but the brand is relatively immaterial to me. As long as it's a reputable brand and it meets the spec in the manual.

Pros: meets manual spec
Cons: brand relatively immaterial

I would do 10k intervals in my Honda Fit but a majority of my driving in that car was highway. I'd also need to add a quart after 7000 miles because of consumption.

Pros: long highway intervals
Cons: oil consumption
Vehicle: Honda Fit
Mileage: 7000 km

I run Lucas 5w40, it’s more about doing oil changes more often rather than anything else. VW doesn’t have any special materials in the block or heads, it’s just cast iron and aluminum no different than any other.

Pros: doing oil changes often
Vehicle: Volkswagen

  • Exhaust smoke:
Rating 1.0

I used the middle one on an old 200,000KM Porsche Cayman S that was burning oil. It made it worse, smoke started coming out of the engine when the oil cap was off and I felt like the engine would soon die.

Cons: made it worse, smoke
Vehicle: Porsche Cayman
Mileage: 200000 km
