Engine oil MOTUL or OEM BMW

MOTUL Engine oil

Motul 8100 Power 5w40 oil. My shop recommends it, I'm based in NC, Autocross in the summer sucks, but my oil temps drop back around 214 degrees F when I come off the track.

Pros: oil temps drop
Vehicle: Volkswagen

If it’s actually an IAG long block, they spec Motul 8100 X-CESS 5W-40 (or an equivalent high quality 5W-40 full synthetic) because their bearing clearances are set up for that weight, not the thinner OEM oil.

Pros: high quality full synthetic

I recently switched from the stock Royal Enfield engine oil to Motul 10W40 fully synthetic. The bike feels noticeably smoother and cleaner.

Pros: smoother and cleaner

MOTUL Engine oil

During all my oil changes, I’ve taken a sample and sent off to Blackstone for analysis.

Even after 12k miles, there’s still enough TBN left that I could have continued using it out to 15k miles.

Dissolved metals and other elements were still within universal engine norms so it wasn’t like the sample was abnormally contaminated.

Pros: TBN still sufficient
Cons: plan is wasteful
Vehicle: Audi R8
Mileage: 12000 km

MOTUL Engine oil

Buddy and me have found that the Motul 7100 isnt that great in them (additives appear to fail about 1500 miles as seen with very increased mis-shifts).

Cons: additives appear to fail
Mileage: 1500 km
Part number: 7100
