Engine oil Mobil or VALVOLINE
I recently tore down a Ford 302 V8 with over 300K miles on it which I know ran Mobil 1 all of it's life and it was just as clean as the new (Jasper) engine being installed! No varnish, sludge build up and virtually no wear!
Valvoline SynPower 5w40 is perfectly fine for 10,000 change intervals. As long as it meats CI-4 or VW505.00 or ACEA B3, it's a perfectly ok oil.
I have found little if any inconsistancy from using Mobil 1 5W40, Redline, Royal Purple & Amsoil. Since Mobil 1 is much more readily available I chose to use that and works out great for me.
I Change my oil every 4000Km and use Mobil Delvac 1 5w40. You can get it at Walmart. I like the 5w40 because it his light enough if you have to start your car below freezing there is no oil starvation. It is also heavy enough that it protects well under high revs, high heat and heavy loads.
I pulled my chipped K03 at 50K miles and looked at it, along with the oil lines, and everything was perfect. Not one sign of coking. This was after using Mobil 1 from 10K to 50K.
15w/50 mobil1 or 20w/50 anything else. fixed me right up.
Go with a decent brand like Mobil 1 SuperSyn 0W-40 next time.
Mobil1 0W40 is thin enough for me.
Mobil 1 is still in a beach chair sipping Corona's at 260deg
I too have used the SynPower since 16,000 miles. The tested sample had 8100 miles on it and had very good readings. I also had the Total Base Number tested which is the additive package. It was 2.0 which is low. They suggested I go no longer than 8100 miles on this oil in my engine due to the additives being low.
