Have also used M1 TDT 5w40 and have had great success
I was using 1 quart every 1000 miles on my o6 2.0t GTI, I actual changed to 5w40 Mobil Turbo Diesel and have gone down to about 1 quart in about 2200 miles also check you pcv as they are notorious for going bad.
IMO M1 0w40 is a very good oil that may do well in many cars. It is a master at being built to meet manufacturers specs.
I used Mobil 0w40 in mine all the time
I switched to Mobil 1 0w40 european formula in hopes of better protection and less consumption. I have 51500 kms right now. I will check mine every 1500km this next oil change.
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 should be able to go longer-- but you need to get a Used Oil Analysis done, in order to determine if you can.
I use that stuff on a daily basis, I get boxes and boxes of total oil, its great stuff, I'm using it in my ABA as well
I have been running this oil for the past 2 oil changes and its all good! Excellent product since it has been around for ages and it is euro After i drained my oil at 7500k's (4660miles) you could still see through the oil....any other synthetic i have had you could not do that.
Speaking only for the 2.0T in our B7 A4...it burned nearly 1qt of Castrol Syntec 5w40 during a 5k interval. Before and after that interval I ran M1 0w40 for 5k, and it burned next to zero. Needless to say I'll continue to use the M1.
0w40 and 5w40 Mobil 1, both perform nearly identically from what I can tell. I think the car started a little quicker in the dead of winter when I switched to 0w40.
