Engine oil Mobil or OEM FORD

Mobil Engine oil

Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w20 or 5w30 is best in my opinion, and I’ve always just used a fram ultra from Walmart never had any problems and my K20 seemed to enjoy it

Pros: K20 seemed to enjoy
Cons: none

Of course, after I bought it I dropped the oil and ran what I like to run in my cars/trucks which a Mobil Delvac product 5w-30. It’s a synthetic but it’s more used for the heavy duty market. I checked the oil some 4000 miles later and it had a reddish look to it just like yours. After the next oil change I never saw it again.

Pros: synthetic, heavy duty
Cons: reddish look
Vehicle: Ford Transit
Mileage: 4000 km

Yooo this happened to me, have you used a high mileage type of oil? Apparently when they start to burn up they can change to a reddish hue, I went back to normal Mobil 1 and it’s back to gold

Pros: back to gold
Cons: reddish hue

Mobil 1 5w30 and oem Subaru filter. I change mine pretty religiously at 3750 miles. I know it might be overkill but I’d rather be safe than sorry and if my engine blows up I will for sure know it wasn’t my fault for neglecting maintenance.

Pros: safe maintenance, engine protection
Cons: might be overkill
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 6035 km

Extractor all the way. As for The amount left behind, it is inconsequential if you are maintaining a short oil change interval. I've seen a couple YouTube videos showing maybe 3 or 4 oz left behind.

Pros: easy, short interval
Cons: small amount remains
Vehicle: Audi A4

  • Engine noise:
Rating 3.5

I found Mobil 1 0W-40 to allow a lot more timing chain and lifter noise, especially at startup but even after, then switched to Castrol Edge 5W-40 and the noise suddenly wasn't there. I've used it ever since.

Pros: noise reduced with Castrol
Cons: more timing chain noise

Make sure you don't run Mobil 1. Subaru engines tend to shear Mobil 1 down to a lower weight oil quickly.

Cons: oil shears quickly
Vehicle: Subaru
