Mobil1 15w-50 (red label) was always good to me, and readily available at wally world. Never had lifter tick in my S50US, on track or otherwise, and it went to 298k before the head gasket gave up. Absolutely could have resealed the engine and ran it another 100k+ (swapped an S54 instead).

Pros: always good, readily available
Cons: head gasket gave up
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 298000 km

Mobil Engine oil

I mostly use the 0W-40 full synthetic Mobil 1 "European" or w/e they call it. I change my oil every 5K miles, including filter (Mann).

Pros: full synthetic
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 5000 km

MOTUL Engine oil

I use Motul oil on all motorcycles because even though its more expensive, its still not that expensive.

I was using Mobil 1 fully synth 5w40 on my old cab with no problem at all. good pressure at idle and at 2k. I used this oil in my new cab (same engine) and boom! No oil pressure at for the first 15 secs. Then it immediately jumped to 5 bars and finally settled down to 1 bat maybe less. However, I saw a dramatic increase in oil pressure even with the 5W40 mobil 1 when I switched to a 2L oil pump. Idle pressure was arround 2bars. Although I used it last summer and it worked just fine throught my vacations in Greece.

Pros: good pressure (old cab), worked fine (Greece)
Cons: no oil pressure (new cab)
Vehicle: Volkswagen
