Engine oil Mobil or AMSOIL

Mobil Engine oil

My 911 has over 100k, I switched to 5-w40 mobil1. I’m sure driven is fine too, but mobil1 is perfect and designed for our cars, cultists be damned.

Pros: perfect, designed for our cars
Vehicle: Porsche 911
Mileage: 100000 km

Amsoil also makes a oil specially formulated for hybrid vehicles since your engine turns on and off more frequently than an average car. Amsoil has a higher Flashpoint than most conventional oils which reduces the amount of oil your car burns.

Pros: higher flashpoint

Mobil Engine oil

I do all my own work and the oil changes are either 10k miles or yearly, usually yearly. I'm not too concerned about the exact date but basically every spring the cars get an oil change, air filter and cabin air filter.

Pros: yearly oil change
Vehicle: Porsche
Mileage: 16093 km

  • Engine noise:
Rating 3.5

I usend to run syn 15w50 in my tired old vr6 all year round, it helped with seeping issues, lifter noise and all if that. but the oil pressure would be through the roof during first start. so I'd set aside a few mins in the morning to let the car idle, relax, listen to a song and let it get some heat in it. on a normal day, the star up pressure would be .5 bar past the filter bypass (10 bar), warm idle was 2 and a bit, and everything above 3.5k was back to the bypass.

Pros: helped with seeping, reduced lifter noise
Cons: high oil pressure on start
Vehicle: Volkswagen
