Engine oil Mobil or AMSOIL
I used Amsoil when I did mine. The squeeze bags they have make changing the fluid a lot easier and it's good oil.
Looking over this old post -- an update: I have since migrated to M1 ESPx2 in 0-20. The price has stabilized at $25gallon, and that made all the difference in the world to me, and is allowing me to reduce my OCI's to 5kish.
I use mobil one ESP 5-30
Biggest thing I see here is the 400 ppm increase in zinc for amsoil, which will keep the cam happy.
Mine has had Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 its entire life (aside from the factory fill) and I've had exactly zero oil consumption or lubrication related issues. It still gets nearly the same fuel economy and is as responsive and smooth as when I bought it, no matter if it's blasting up a steep mountain or baking in the heat of summer traffic.
Every 4k-4500 miles with a Mobil 1 5w30-5w40 mix and some liquimoly oil treatment.
5K with AMSOIL Signature Series. Any family daily gets the same mileage and quality oil. Yes it’ll cost me a few hundred more over the lifetime of the vehicle, but is worth the peace of mind that if it’s not the best oil you can buy, it’s damn close.
If you really want to make the engine last, use amsoil, i swear by it. Its more expensive but the quality shows, its got longevity like no other oil. Been using it for almost 2 decades and my cars pur like kittens.
All 4 of my Subarus have serious consumption problems with Mobil 1. On my current 15 outback I tried liquid moly and it consumed it. I went back to the Subaru dealer parts department and so far 1200 miles the level is still full.
Absolutely Liqumoly!
Please never put Amsoil in a Volkswagen they under rate their viscosity/ wt ratings and the only time I used their oil I ended up spinning a rod bearing in my first R32
