Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or VALVOLINE

VALVOLINE Engine oil

I do like Valvoline R&P and it is in fact cleaning up two older, normally aspirated cars I have with oiling and ring issues, installed in one Lexus and one older Acura (Isuzu).

Pros: cleaning up older cars
Cons: HTHS is very mediocre
Vehicle: Lexus

Oil burning around 150k, although switching to Valvoline Restore & Protect I've basically eliminated it. Seems to be related to carbon buildup in the low tension rings.

Pros: eliminated oil burning
Cons: carbon buildup
Mileage: 150000 km

An oil change to Liqui Moly 5w40 worked wonders for mine. Still zero lifter tick after about 1500 miles. Highly recommend.

Pros: zero lifter tick
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 2414 km

On the recommendation of my mechanic in reply to my quest to eliminate hot lifter tick in my 89K 1.6, Liqui Moly 5w40. Hot lifter tick is still nonexistent 1500 miles in.

Pros: lifter tick nonexistent

Legit. Worst case scenario it doesn't do anything, but I've seen some improvement in my Cadillac ELR. Engine is quieter and lots of sludge was removed. But fwiw lots still remains and the varnish is basically untouched.

Pros: engine quieter, sludge removed
Cons: varnish untouched
