I used castrol edge 502 spec , although Iwatched pauls from DAP video and he specs Liqui Moly, which seems like a high quality german oil.
I use Synthoil 5w-40 seems great. Lower consumption early on till about 4K miles then on par with consumption others report.
Liqui-Moly produce good oil in general, in my country all subaru enthusiasts use it for engines also!
Thanks sp_golf - went with liqui moly 10w60. it may be my imagination, but the motor seems to run a little smoother and it feels more responsive - but I have no #'s to prove any of that. What I can prove is my oil temps were definitely more manageable and I didn't burn nearly as much oil as the 5w40 I was using previously.
Liqui Moly for me all the way. It's made in Germany and their standards are second to none. We use their oil in our service department and in all of our own personal and show cars as well. Their oil test results are some of the best I've seen, I highly recommend using them.
i got even better results with Liqui Moly(better results then Euro M1); a much quieter engine on a 1998 Dodge SUV V8 and a 2001 BMW with a V8.
Leichtlauf is great, I've noticed smoother overall operation in my 2.0 TSI Jetta and GTI since changing from dealer Castrol.
Run liquid moly. 5w40 at napa and its a really dependable oil
I use liquimoly 5w-40 synthetic german blend that is vw spec and I do not burn a drop of oil between changes.
The Motul stuff is pretty great, though I went with Liqui Moly Leichtlauf 5w-40. My 2.0 TSI Gen 2 really like that oil, never burned a drop and saw about +2% in fuel economy.
