Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or OEM Subaru

OEM Subaru Engine oil

I had a 2017 Forester with 175k miles on it and only used factor oil and never had any issues. I did not do any off road stuff and it was only a premium model, not a wilderness model. I don’t think it matters as long as you change it regularly.

Pros: no issues, engine longevity
Mileage: 175000 km

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil

After completing the 1000 km run in and going through the first service where I got Cepsa xtar 10w40 oil, the gearbox remained hard, compared to my previous F650 bmw.

Did some digging regarding engine oil and how I could improve my gear shifting experience, engine smoothness and durability and the choice was either Motul 7100 or LiquiMoly Street Race 10w40. Decided on Liqui Molly and definitely I am noticing much smoother gear shifts and maybe even less vibration. I am surprised. The change is definitely noticeable.

Pros: much smoother gear shifts
Cons: gearbox remained hard
Mileage: 2475 km

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil

Imo Mobil 1 is mid grade at best. Liqui-moly is the only thing I’ve used for the last 5 years, I too started with Mobil 1, then switched to liquimoly (same weight) and the engine was immediately quieter, smoother, and ran cooler.

Pros: quieter, smoother, cooler engine
Cons: Mobil 1 is mid grade

Rating 3.0

My GL550 has about 106k miles on it, just did an oil change with LiquiMoly 0w-40 and 2 bottles of LiquiMoly ceratec. Drove it kind of hard for a minute or so. Then noticed when I got back it had this noise.

Cons: noise after oil change
