With the AMS and a 20 row cooler my temps stick at 190-200 dependant on ambient temps thus far.
Stick with the synthetic. The tiny turbos on the TDI's are heavily stressed and mineral oils are just not up to the task of protecting the bearings in the turbo.
amsoil here too, right now 5w30 going to switch to 0w30 soon, best stuff for the $$$
Amsoil 10-30 my dad's an amsoil dealer
Amsoil VW Approved European 5w40 is a great oil! Amsoil has a gurantee and no one esle can challenge that they are any better in quality or protection. Their oil was designed for long drain intervals and have superior protection.
I use Amsoil Heavy Duty Diesel marine and truck oil.. it's preety good.. should be TDI friendly.
AMSOIL was my race sponser, and I've used their products in all of my racers including the SC'd 2000 4Motion. That being said, I wouldn't recommend running any engine oil ; including high-grade synthetics, over 7000 miles.
i use amsoil 5w30 love it
I ran my 2K beetle for 21K miles on Amsoil 5-3o/5w-40 and milage went up 7% and started awsome when it was 0 degrees out . Now I have a 2005 Jetta and its next for the 5w-40 @ 5K oil change .
AMSOIL is definately the best oil to buy, but its expensive and hard to find (unless you order it - amsoil.com).
