Engine oil Castrol or OEM Toyota

Castrol Engine oil

2014 VW Passat 1.8TSI engine. 249k miles. Did the recommended oil change at every 10k until 125, then every 5 k. Transmission fluid change every 80k, looking back, will switch to 60k, just to be safe.

Pros: regular oil changes, transmission fluid change
Cons: dealer flushed coolant, clogged core
Mileage: 249000 km

Castrol Engine oil

I've been using Castrol GTX High Mileage for almost 10 years in my 2009. I've always done 10,000 mile changes and I've got 298,000 miles on it. Blackstone tests on my 10,000 mile oil say it should be good for another 2000 miles.

Pros: oil good for mileage
Vehicle: Honda Fit
Mileage: 298000 km

OEM Toyota Engine oil

If you are using ToyotaCare, they will push 10k/1yr oil change interval. If you willing to pay for every oil change, they don't care.

Pros: minimum requirement warranty
Vehicle: Toyota Harrier
Mileage: 16000 km

Castrol Engine oil

One time I had the oil bug bite (keera) and I decided to get the best oil. Castrol (I don't remember the number) but it was 340 AED for a gallon. I poured it into the engine and it felt good. That weekend took it for a desert drive and during one of the breaks, the entire oil just leaked out of the main seal. The oil was so good that the engine didn't have the tolerances to hold it back.

Pros: felt good
Cons: oil leaked out
Vehicle: Jeep
