Here is an amoil oil test in Acura TSX. The 43150 mile test is amsoil series 2000, the 34000 mile test is mobil syn blend. At 5700 miles amsoil contained the same 7 parts of iron, that mobil syn blend contained at 3000 miles in the previous test. Thus about 1/2 the wear vs mobil syn blend. Damn good oil.
I've used AMSOIL since 1977....in everything from to name a few, my 83 GTi, 88 Scirocco, 04 R32 and now the wife's 06 Passat 3.6L as well as my 04 Volvo S60R and have never had an issue. I use the 5w40 in the Passat and 0w30 in my Volvo.
I have used Amsoil's 5w-50 on my mk4 GTI 1.8T and my Passat from their first oil changes until now. I love the oil and use it exclusively.
When I tried Amsoil in my 16v for the first time, oil temps were 10 degrees cooler on my MFA. I have Mobil 1 in now and my oil temps are back up 10 degrees higher.
same as most any other top quality synthetic, but a little better i blew 3qts out of my rabbit on its maiden voyage an drove for a few min with probably almost no oil pressure. no damaged bearings, no damaged lifters, engine still runs like a champ an that was almost two years an several thousand miles ago.
FYI, I was running Castrol 5w-40 previously, but the last two changes have been with Amsoil 5w-40. I could understand 5k intervals, especially for guys w/FI, or those who admittedly beat the hell outta their 24v, but dang... A lot of $$$ going down the drain here.
Rajvosa, would you say your oil comes out cleaner and less worn when u change it out at 3,000 miles? My buddy put amsoil in his worked Evo and after 3,000 miles, it was just as clear as the day he put it in. Prior to amsoil, mobil 1 was used and 3,000 miles later it was BLACK. That is the main reason why I went to amsoil and my mileage aready went up, car runs sooo smooth, and I feel its the right oil for the 24v.
I runn amsoil's european car formula 5w40 full synthetic and being a mechanic i will vouch for amsoil all the way because i can always tell the difference between good oil and ****
I went 10k on amsoil 5w40 and never needed to add oil.
I use the Amsoil 5W-40 european formula. It was not on the VW oil list last time I checked, but the Amsoil says right on the bottle "meets VW spec 502.00" so I'm cool with that. Amsoil has a great reputation.
