OEM Toyota Cabin filter

Where I live, my best choices are the Toyota discount charcoal cabin air filter at the parts counter for $44 CAD (#87139-YZZ93, YZZ means "value" or approved 3rd party rebranded as Toyota, only $4 more than aftermarket non-charcoal).

Pros: discount, charcoal
Vehicle: Toyota Corolla
Part number: 87139-YZZ93

Fram Cabin filter

The Genesis OE filter is $75!! The Fram Fresh Breeze filter is $25 or less; it combines activated charcoal with baking soda to reduce HVAC odor. I've used them in all my vehicles since Fram introduced the Fresh Breeze filter line and found them remarkably effective.

Pros: effective, cost-effective

Be wary of Amazon, I ordered genuine Toyota cabin and engine air filters two years in a row, the second year the filter was noticeably lighter, cheaper feeling. I suspect a counterfeit imitation that has only half the filter material

Pros: good quality, first year
Cons: lighter, cheaper, counterfeit
Vehicle: Toyota Prius

IMO, don't get the really thick ones with carbon (like Fram FreshBreeze) - they restrict airflow and can cause the resistor and motor to overheat (essentially it's like a clogged/dirty filter)

Cons: restrict airflow, overheat
Vehicle: Toyota

I had them do a standard service on my Tacoma once. Oil, filters, etc. Next time around I had them give me a quote for a 150k mile service...and it was almost insulting. Got everything to do it myself for a fraction of the parts cost and when I went to replace my cabin air filter it was very clearly about 5 years old.

Pros: fraction of parts cost
Cons: cabin air filter old
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 150000 km

OEM Toyota Cabin filter

When I bought my 2005 Tundra I took it to Kendall Toyota for an inspection, they recommended a cabin air filter.

A 2005 Tundra doesn’t have a cabin air filter.

Cons: unnecessary recommendation
Vehicle: Toyota Tundra
