Brake pads STOPTECH or OEM BMW

STOPTECH Brake pads

To me it looks like brake pad material on your rotors due to your street pads melting. Slap a new set a cheap pads on there from Autozone or something and drive it for a week or two that material should come off. As long as you don’t have vibration while braking they should still be good. Just make sure to use track pads next time. I personally run StopTech 309 pads because they’re good on track and street

Pros: good on track and street
Cons: street pads melting

I run StopTech Sport pads on my E92 M3 and they hold up very well for a dual duty pad. I prefer them over the other options listed.

Pros: hold up very well

I just bought pads, rotors and sensors. Went with BMW branded, lifetime replacement warranty makes it a no brainier.

OEM BMW Brake pads

My understanding is that the pads that bmw uses create a lot of brake dust because they are ‘soft’ to give a nice smooth pedal feel.

Pros: smooth pedal feel
Cons: lots of brake dust

BMW OEM pads have done that for decades as far as I can tell. Just get aftermarket pads and you'll get the same performance with less mess.

Pros: same performance, less mess
Cons: lots of dust

Meanwhile, my basic 330i standard rear brakes were apparently almost 500 bucks to replace…holy cow I don’t think I actually make bmw money anymore hahaha

Cons: expensive brakes
