Brake pads Raybestos or OEM Audi

OEM Audi Brake pads

I have a 2021 District Green Q5e / tan interior and it has been a fantastic car for my use case. 55% City driving means little to no gas use with home charging. Lots of road trips too, it’s a fast highway cruiser. 50k miles so far.

Pros: fast highway cruiser
Vehicle: Audi Q5
Mileage: 50000 km

Raybestos Brake pads

Brakes are a composition issue. rears wore out at 34,000 miles on my 22 Taos S. Replaced with Raybestos Hybrid ceramic and with 87,000 they still have plenty of life.

Pros: plenty of life
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 34000 km

OEM Audi Brake pads

1.5 years ago a client was offered brake pads only with a 1 year warranty, no guarantee against noises or pulsations, or brake pads and rotors together with a 3 year warranty against noises and pulsations. They opted for the 1 year option on their fancy 2017 Audi because the rotors were stupid expensive.

Pros: 1 year warranty offered
Cons: no guarantee against noises
Vehicle: Audi

Rating 2.0

First post in evo forum, looking for any advice on how to lower the noise from my raybestos ST-43 brake pads. I know that these are race pads, and I take the car to the track, but lately I've had to drive it to work as well. During city driving, when I brake from like 20mph, the screech is so loud its starting to become painful to my ears. I am trying my best now to just do sudden stops. They don't make much noise if I press the brake pedal firmly.

Cons: loud screeching at low speeds
