I'm running Powerstop Z23's up front on my 2017, had no problems installing them along with a new set of Stoptech (centric) slotted rotors. The part number for the pads is Z23-1308a, and the part numbers are 126.34156SL and 126.34156SR (slotted rotors have a left and right side).
I've been running powerstop brakes for about 3 years now, and they've been excellent for me. drilled and slotted rotors front and rear with Z23 ceramic pads, stock calipers. they do lack a bit of bite while they're cold driving at low speeds. where they really shine is on the highway and they have a chance to come up to temp. coming down from 100+ mph, they're so smooth and consistent. I think they look great on the car too.
Only solution, shell out for a new AFTERMARKET brake pads and rotors. Not OEM not VW but brands like PowerStop, Brembo, EBC, etc. You will pay more, but will last you longer. My set of Powerstop is going strong 13k miles later.
The rear rotors with the power stop ceramic pads are just like they were installed at 20,000km brand spanking new and smooth just like day one no feedback just proper brake function.
This is why I will be installing a set of Z23 pads and rotors soon. They are a proven set that performs excellent with zero vibration.
Highly recommend using Powerstop pads, incredible price and great stopping power. Just installed the Z26 carbon ceramics on my Hellcat and she stops on a dime.
I’ve had them on my gmt800 for about a year. Great braking performance towing and mountain driving. But nothing on longevity yet.
Powerstop is pretty good, I am running their pads/rotors on my '14 civic and have had zero issues.
i have the same complaint about my mintex red box pads, they are a bit noisy at times and they my like a rubbing/squeaking sound somtimes when i stop or roll a bit with my hand brake pulled up, but the dust is much less than it was so im kinda happy about that.
Now as far as brakepads go, stay away from Mintex Redbox and go with PBR/Axxis Deluxe Plus or Metal Master pads. I had really bad experiences with Mintex pads, and I'm currently running Axxis Ultimate pads on my W8!
