Brake pads OEM Subaru or Hawk Performance

OEM Subaru Brake pads

Bought top of the line brake pads Front and rear for 115 dollars a you tube video and a 7 dollar spanner got me through the job. Didn't need rotors I've learned shops automatically want to change those.

Pros: top of the line
Cons: shops want to change rotors

I use Hawk 5.0 pads with R1 Concepts Drilled and Slotted rotors, stops on a dime and cuts alot of speed when adjusting going into corners very predictable

Pros: predictable braking, strong stopping

Hawk Performance Brake pads

I run hawk 5.0 pads (i used to use ebc yellow but theres been reports of ebc pads delaminating so i stopped using ebc)

I use the centric premium coated blanks & change rotors every time I change pads.

For fluid I use ate200

I swapped out the hoses for braided ss hoses.

Pros: good performance
Cons: EBC delamination reports
Vehicle: Honda

Hawk Performance Brake pads

I currently use Hawk DTC60’s on my Scion FRS with Motul RBF600 fluid for track days. The brakes feel great to me, I like the bite, and they don’t fade even on multi day events.

Pros: great feel, good bite, no fade
Cons: expensive

Just switched to dba t2 w Hawk ceramics (combo set from new provisions racing) w factory calipers and lines.

I’d been considering brembo swap, but money had to be reallocated, so I abandoned full upgrade dreams. Old rotors were warped and pads were a dusty mess, so pretty much anything was an improvement.

Hawks are quiet, super-smooth/consistent engagement when I step on pedal, and minimal dust. Definitely happy w decision.

Pros: quiet, smooth engagement, minimal dust

They feel amazing and the braking power is noticeably increased but they create an incredible amount of corrosive dust and make a really terrible high pitched noise on occasion under light braking.

Pros: amazing feel, increased power
Cons: corrosive dust, high pitched noise

I can’t wait to get my brakes fixed under warranty. This will be the 4th brake job before 60k miles which is horrendous. Hopefully around Thanksgiving I’ll try to get her in. The shuddering, the noise etc are something I expect from a car with 200k miles, but my 14 year old Honda with 202k, which also has had 4 brake jobs, feels way better than my 2021 Ascent

Cons: horrendous, shuddering, noise
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 60000 km

Should’ve gone with EBC! Tried Hawk hps blues and could not go more than 500 miles before taking them off and replacing them with EBC yellows again. The noise was horrible.

Cons: horrible noise
Mileage: 500 km
