Brake pads OEM Mazda or OEM Volkswagen
2021 Mazda 3 same original set of brakes at 30K miles.
Back in the early 1980s I remember how peer pressure kept guys at our Mazda dealerships from blowing brakes clean during inspections and repairs.
I did my own brakes, sorta with and without the special tool. My conclusion is that the tool is not strictly needed.
I put 220,000 miles on a Mazda six sport automatic transmission 2015 before my son wrecked it without doing anything except changing in the brakes and some steering parts and of course oil changes synthetic it had started to use a little oil between changes maybe a quart.
I just traded in my 2019 Jetta with 65000 miles, never changed the brakes, but looked at them at 60000. It looks like they were at thick as new, insane. Would stop on a dime.
That said, I have a '22 SE that has 53,000 miles. The rear brake pads failed at 23,000 miles.
2024 prem plus with 50k miles and no major issues. At 6k miles the battery was defective and then at 11k miles and then again at 36k miles my front brakes were shot.
How about my 2021 Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve with a measly 14,000 miles and the dealer says the rear brakes are rusted and grooved with photo evidence.
I’ve clocked 14k, and yes, I’ve already finished off my brake pads. Truth be told, I don’t really expect them to last longer since I drive quite aggressively. Now, the OEM pads cost roughly around 6k with labor. Honestly, I don’t think they’re worthwhile, as the braking feels noisy and lacks bite.
OEM VW brakes are crap.
