I am on Hawk HPS and I absolutely love them, great bite. Buddies in there STI's were shocked at how fast my car stopped and how hard the brakes bit. Very low dusting, takes about 5X as long to see dust as the stock pads.
My R32 with new brakes is unreal, stops way better then my jetta, the car you drove must of had shot brakes, Mine will smash my face in to the steering wheel is im not careful that how hard I can stop. I got stock callipers with hawks HPS pads all round made the car so much better
Now i have Hawk HP+ pads, great stopping power, lots of dust, noisy in day to day use, loud when heated and when using mild braking force (bearable), predictable bite patter not to aggressive easy to modulate breaking Great on the track for a mildly tuned car on oem breaks set up, did not fade, after first heat cycle.
I took your advise and ordered Hawk Ceramic pads, ECS SS lines (Goodrich doesn't make SS lines for a 2010 Jetta), and the SuperBlue fluid.
Have you tried upgrading your pads/brake lines/fluid? I put in Hawk HPS pads, SS lines, and ATE SuperBlue fluid, made a huge difference in my brakes. Firmer pedal feel, much better initial bite, and fade is substantially reduced.
The stock pads chunked like mad upfront because it was a medium speed technical track with little room for brake cooling. You need Hawk HP plus or better for lapping these cars.

Only mods: AEM cold air intake, Hawk HP+ brake pads, Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires.
You would get far, far better brake performance from Hawk HPS or EBC Green pads on flat, OEM replacement rotors. Those decorative rotors might look kind of cool, but they won't stop you any shorter, and could extend your stopping distance some. (Actually, to someone who understands the engineering of brake systems, rotors like those look really stupid.) And Mintex Red Box is a decent OEM quality pad with low dust, but they aren't very fade resistant and they aren't very grippy. They are comparable to stock or parts store house brand pads in performance, just less dusty.
My Mintex Redboxes are ALSO not LOW DUST as claimed by the company. IMO, they dust much more than OEM pads. My Long Beaches always turn gunmetal after 2 or 3 days of daily commuting. Also, the brake pads gives off an unpleasant smell, but not a big issue.
