I have had my set up on for about a month now. Stopping power is significantly better as well as way increased pedal feel. Bite is fantastic just with the Hawk HPS that I run on the street and even better with the DTC-30's that I run on the track.
Brakes feel really grabby, brake very well IMO
Jetta has been relatively trouble free but a few quirks here and there. Sometimes the electronics glitch and then figure themselves out. For some reason my car burns through bulbs like crazy, especially the rear lights. Rear brakes had to be replaced around 30-35k. However, the car is an absolute tank otherwise.
Big fan of engine breaking... In my 03 GLI I ended up selling her at 160,000...replaced rear brake pads once, and never the fronts... Clutch was still tight and never any problems.
stock mk4 brakes will clear
Hawk HPS for the street. Hawk Blue for the track.

The hawk hps are great. The dust is really easy to clean. I argee the initial bite is not as good as stock. Do not use on the track i over heated them as well.
I tried the hawk hps on my mk4 jetta. I wasn't to impressed with them for what they are. They took a long time to break in, break dust was okay, and the breaking performance is so so. I ran them in the fronts and rear. The rears wore down very quickly and the fronts last a long time.
