I'm a big fan of EBC red stuff pads, IMO they are the best and actually have to go through testing to get a cert number that proves they do EVERYTHING better than the OEM pads

Pros: best performance, certified quality

EBC Brake pads

Just today I changed the rear brake pads and rotors on my 2004 Jetta GLI 1.8t. I got some new Zimmerman rotors and EBC Red Stuff pads on now, and obviously that fixed the grinding.

Pros: fixed the grinding

I can say that the boxster brake setup completely outperforms the OEM setup. I can say that with confidence due to my experience with with both setups...the brembo caliper easily exceeds the limitations of the OEM single piston caliper. My car lost several feet upon an aggressive 65-0 test. I performed both tests several times on a long straightaway (closed course ) With textar pads on both setups. The Porsche brakes were notably shorter distances... Then i upgraded the pads to ebc red stuff and those did even better aggressive stops.

Pros: shorter distances, better stops

I used: EBC Yellow Tuff Pads Stoptech Powerslot Rotors I painted the anti-squeal spring and caliper support bracket black, nothing too over the top.

Yes...to an extent but the biggest difference in braking performance will come from the pads you use. I like having slots because I feel it does help, especially in wet conditions to channel the water away for quicker bite.

Pros: quicker bite, helps in wet

I've fitted EBC yellow stuff pads (and standard VW discs), and I've found the braking performance to be amazing for road use. These pads were so much better than anything I've bought over the counter from VW.

Pros: amazing braking performance

OEM FORD Brake pads

In terms of driving impressions, well...it feels heavy and clumsy around town. The steering is very heavy...forget twirling the wheel with a finger. The shifter is mounted low and away. It takes effort to shift, and it's very solid and mechanical (rod shifter). The clutch is progressive but the friction point is not very obvious. Ride is quite good, and push through the clumsy feeling and she can dance. Brakes are hysterically soft, typical for a SHO.

Pros: Ride is quite good
Cons: brakes hysterically soft
Vehicle: Ford Taurus

I had this issue with Hawk HPS, and had to tap on the brakes in heavy rain often. Have EBC Red now, they don't do this but they also don't stop the car well period.

Pros: no issue in rain (EBC)
Cons: don't stop car well (EBC)

dunno if same formula on Touareg pads, but they are HORRIBLE on my A4. They are low dust, but fade terribly - much worse than stock.

Pros: low dust
Cons: fade terribly
Vehicle: Audi A4
Mileage: 56000 km
