I had red stuff on my old A4. Had no complaints.
I've got Red Stuff on all 4 corners. Quiet, near zero dusting and very good pedal feel.
I use Hawk HP Plus pads on track days. They bite great when cold and can take some punishment. They howl like a banshee during normal braking
One really good thing about EBC pads is that they have the break in compound on them. If your rotors are not bad enough to make the brake pedal pulse, the pads will refinish the rotors with the compound. It will take the shine off and give the rotors a freshly machined surface without actually having them turned! After installing the pads, to my surprise, my rotors were COMPLETELY pulse free after a little break-in time!!!
I went with reds I installed EBC reds front and rear. Dustless and better stopping power without the initial grab of the stockers. I'm happy with them.
I have been running EBC yellow's on pretty much ALL my cars for the last 7-8 years. They always make a noticeable difference. On a GTI PP it seems like way more than that, the initial bite is just unbelievable (and I've bedded them in, it's not the initial bedding compound they put on them). I feel like I've gone up to a 6pot caliper! Guess the OEM pads SUCK and the OEM PP brakes have way better potential than I thought. With just a pad upgrade I feel like the brakes are totally up to the extra 50-60% HP I have over stock
I replaced mine a few years ago with new rotors from Zimmerman since it was the third change and I have been very happy with them. The stopping distance seems to be a bit better and more responsive. Also, they produce much less dust than the OEM VW pads and I believe have Kevlar mixed in the compound.
Sorry it's a little late, but I've been using EBC yellows on my MK6 for double duty and I have no complaints other than the dust. They certainly make no noise.
Driving the Golf R made me not buy it. I have a 2009 MKV TSI base model 6mt with APR Stg 2 (intake, chip, downpipe) upgraded stock brakes (hawk HPS, ss lines, dot 4 fluid), KW V3 coilovers (both rebound and compression adjustable) and it was faster, handled better and braked similarly to the Golf R.
I was at the track this weekend and basically, even with the hawk blues, the brakes just don't provide the clamping I need.
