Brake pads Carbotech or Project Mu

I’m running Carbotech XP10 in my AP’s and the cold squeal is obnoxious. Once they’re really good and hot it goes away but it’s definitely just a trade off of good pads. Mine drag every so slightly when turning the wheel by hand but never enough I’ve been concerned about it. They still work very, very well.

I use carbotech xp10/8. I don't bother to switch. it makes a bit of noise if I street drive it too much but nothing really bad. it beds back in just fine after one or two warm up laps

XP for track use and 1521 for street. No need to rebed pads. Just swap and go. Carbotech says this and I’ve head zero issue myself doing this

I just switch between track and OEM pads. I can usually get 4 to 5 tracks days out of the Carbotechs that I run. I drive my car to the track, so by the time I get there the track pads have had plenty of time to make friends with the rotors. Same thing with the OEM pads. It just take a little bit of driving for them to settle in.

carbotech xp10/xp8(f/r), not a daily but the car sees plenty of street miles. they are noisy and dusty but this setup has been perfectly fine for me.

Depends what you're after. If just street with some spirited driving, smething like pmu hc+ or ns400 works. I do track work and used to run hc800s, but got hc+ thinking they are the same. Only 600c rated instead. But, good cold performance, and extra good performance hot. So, they don't wear out super quickly while daily driving. Got quite a lot of track days and driving out of my original hc800s with t3 rotors. But, they are harder to find. Need to get the shape from pmus website, and then find somebody that stocks them. I’ve used carbotech XP10 for years because it’s the only pad that has never had any of these kinds of problems. Also also swapped between 1521 and XP10 seamlessly. The only time I had a problem like this was when I used some very cheap rotors that couldn’t handle the track abuse, you could actually see the rotor surface getting pitted. Yours look fine by comparison.

For my GR86 Carbotech XP10s have been amazing on the track, seriously no complaints at all. The XP10s with Castrol SRF have been a great combo and held up really well even on some really big/high speed tracks. I swap in my OEM pads when I’m not tracking the car for awhile. It’s not great because I have to bed the pads every time I change them. Once I’m through the OEM pads I’m going to get the Carbotech 1521’s for the street, that way like you mentioned I think I can avoid having to avoid bedding my brakes with every change. The XP10’s function well on the street but they feel a little rough if not up to temp and they are insanely loud.

I run carbotech xp8 on the front of my c5. Still a group 2 level driver. They’re a good pad for a car that’s driven to the track and home, but dirty and noisy at times for a street pad. They’re considered entry level track pads. I chew up rotors but don’t get fade, but my local tracks aren’t particularly hard on brakes

I tried the carbotech 1521 to try to get silent street pads with better bite but no dice, it’s the same as the OEM akebonos
