Solid, Zinc coated Zimmermann with Red Stuff pads. I'm stage 1 and push my car a bit occasionally and have never had any issues stopping when I want to.
I'd buy a set of Girodisc rotors. They will last 10 times longer than crap audi rotors.
I replaced my previous rotors with Zimmerman ones and they also had this notch so don’t worry about it as it’s normal.
Definitely approaching end of life. I wouldn’t have a safety concern just yet but you’re getting close. Go with Girodisc for your next set. They’re more expensive but they are amazing.
I used Zimmerman rotors and ATE ceramic pads all purchased from fcpeuro.com. With stock pads I could wash the car and within two days they would be brown from brake dust. Now I can go weeks before I start to notice that there may be a little dust.
With the ceramic pads I cannot tell a difference in braking, I have almost no brake dust, and the rotors still look like new.
I used both before Zimmerman is good and cheap. Akebento are good too but hard to find and more expense. I practically used all brake pads and rotors over the 13 years I own the RRS. I would recommend using cermpads.
Zimmerman rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Rotors are not drilled or slotted. The car stops on a dime and just saved me on the highway yesterday. This was the first modification I did and I'm glad I did it.
Zimmerman makes great rotors.
I did Zimmerman/Akebono on my e39 about 3000 mikes ago. My only complaint is the bite. It doesn't have that initial braking force the OEM pads had. It still slows the car down without fail, just a different feel.
I do not recommend Zimmermann, while they work ok for a lot of people, i had a lot of problems with the rotors.
