Brake discs Zimmermann or EBC

Zimmermann Brake discs

Go with good solid OE quality coated rotors, and a low dust pad like Zimmerman and Akebono, Brembo, etc. You'll probably never push the limits of the stock brakes if youre not tracking the car.

Pros: good solid OE quality
Cons: slotted eat pads
Vehicle: BMW

I've had the EBC reds up front with the larger A8 rotors. No dust, no vibrations and they have lasted a long time.

Pros: no dust, no vibrations, lasted long

Just wanted to give a heads up for anyone who is interested in swapping your stock front 2012+ Beetle Turbo Brakes with MK7 GTI PP / S3 / R / Clubsport brakes/rotors/pads. The upgrade went well and was worth it, even looks so much better with the larger caliper and rotor.

Pros: worth it, looks better
Cons: dust shield useless
Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle

It is complete. I got the MKVII GOLF R calipers and rotors now on a 2012 Beetle Turbo. Calipers/carriers/pads/rotors for a MKVII PP Package fit fine. Much better bite and brake performance over stock. smooth nice braking. no sounds. pads now bedded in. using factory pads and zimmerman rotors

Pros: better bite, smooth braking
Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle

Zimmermann Brake discs

Akebono ceramics and Zimmerman rotors on countless brake jobs. Never a complaint about feeling different then OEM and folks like the reduction in dust. From hard drivers to grocery getters, never a problem and no comebacks.

Pros: low dust, reliable

For daily use, check the e36 Zimmermann/Akebono kit from FCP euro, lifetime warranty on them (I replaced mine with no hassle for the cost of shipping). They don't bite as nice as the OEM pads... But they also don't dust over your wheels going to the grocery store...

Pros: lifetime warranty, low dust
Cons: less bite than OEM

Zimmermann Brake discs

I also have a '95 325i and recently installed the front and rear "OEM Plus Brake Kit" from Bimmerworld which came with a full set of Zimmerman zinc coated rotors, StopTech "street" pads, new rotor retaining screws, caliper bolt covers, and a set of pad sensors. Last weekend I went for a short drive in the mountains and was very impressed with the overall performance and feel from the new setup. Also so far I've noticed less dust vs the unknown pads that were installed by the previous owner.

Pros: good performance, less dust
Vehicle: BMW

I just bought zimmerman cross-drilled rotors for the fronts. Cross-drilled rotors are lighter but do not dissipate heat better (less material to soak up heat). Stock or slotted rotors are best for soaking up heat.

Pros: rotors are lighter
Cons: do not dissipate heat better
