Brake discs STOPTECH or OEM Volkswagen

STOPTECH Brake discs

I threw that same combination on my genesis coupe to replace the brembos. This is probably a better brake set up and much cheaper, I beat the crap out of it on multiple track days with next to no fade.

Pros: better setup, cheaper, no fade
Vehicle: Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Pagid is one of the industry leaders in brakes. They have other single piece cast rotors in the $100/ea range, just make sure you stick with something that uses a high carbon alloy. There's nothing wrong with going single piece, Stoptech's performance rotors are just drilled and slotted Centric high carbon single piece rotors. If you're going to keep the car long enough to realistically think you'll change the rotors again, then FCP Euro for the lifetime warranty. I've run Stoptech Sports and they're fantastic but make a fair amount of noise at the end of their life and expensive now.

Pros: fantastic performance, good value
Cons: noisy at end of life, expensive

if you're going to take it back to the dealership, ask them to mount a different set of wheels and tires to eliminate that finally.

also, when was the last time your brake disks were replaced? it's not uncommon for brake dust to build up in the rotor and cause an imbalance. simply use compressed air or water to clean out the inside of the disk and see if it improves.

Pros: easy to improve
Cons: brake dust imbalance

My Golf R's brakes look like this as well. I have 10K + miles on them but they have been like this since 2-3K miles. I'll say it's "normal". Even though i haven't experienced it with other cars that i can recall.

Cons: brakes look scored
Mileage: 4828 km

At ~4,000 miles, I bought a set of StopTech (front) drilled+slotted rotors (non-PP) for my GTI and kept my OEM brake pads. Everything was fine up until recently (~2,000 miles later). I now hear a high pitch "squealing" noise at very low speeds. This happens right when I'm about to come to a complete stop (1-3 mph).

Cons: high pitch squealing noise
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 4000 km

Brought mine into dealership, the service advisor said they manufacture these rotors out of softer material now so they don't warp down the road. The softer material downside is that they wear faster. I don't believe that at all. If they wear faster, wouldn't it be more even wear and not scored lines in there??

Pros: softer material prevents warping
Cons: wears faster, causes scoring
Mileage: 17703 km
