I recently installed 345 and 310 from the mk5 R32 on mine, feels and looks much better.
I had shake and brake at 30k. warped rotors, replaced the rotors and pad, all good again
I also did the upgrade (after thoroughly reading the golfdave thread), as I hated how grabby and sticky the stock brakes were. For me, it was totally worth it. The larger front rotors have made the brakes way more linear and easy to modulate. The extra thermal capacity is just a bonus.
The only thing I have done to it before the most recent work was to change out the rotors and pads.
Stock rotors are cheap and effective anything bigger is just for show.
Do both. The stock rotors are pretty garbage and cover your car in iron anyways.
My Golf R's brakes look like this as well. I have 10K + miles on them but they have been like this since 2-3K miles. I'll say it's "normal". Even though i haven't experienced it with other cars that i can recall.
Brought mine into dealership, the service advisor said they manufacture these rotors out of softer material now so they don't warp down the road. The softer material downside is that they wear faster. I don't believe that at all. If they wear faster, wouldn't it be more even wear and not scored lines in there??
I looked at my wife’s Tig and they look bad as well only 3900 miles.
I took a look at my breaks and noticed the exact same wear on passenger front. Have SEL-P 4Motion R-Line and only 1100 miles.
