Battery YUASA or OEM Volkswagen
OEM VW Battery lasted 7/8 years, despite me nuking it by foolishly leaving my lights on. Sad day.
I replaced the battery of my 18 SE this year and did not code the battery. I replaced it with an OEM one from VW’s parts department and had no issues
I have the true start now. Previous one is yuasa from 2004 that lasts a good 17 years.
I’ve always used Yuasa and always get at least 7 year’s life
I had an oem yuasa last like 15 years...replaced it with another yuasa thats over 4 years old now...no issues so
I ran a yuasa in my victory for nine years. It is now on its second life in my lawn tractor- 2 years and still going strong. Battery tenders for the win.
Had my '18 R since May '18 and still on original battery, 25 mile commute to work each way about 1/2 hwy . At 57,000 miles.
OEM battery in my 2016 Jetta with 215k miles is still going strong.
Since the battery weighs ~40 lbs this isn't really a significant weight change from front to rear so I've no idea if the car handles any differently. Would I recommend this mod? Probably not as it's not cheap and has no real performance advantage and more crazy than anything.
the battery in my 2016 died while JUST inside the 36k warranty. the OEM replacement lasted another 30k or so. bought an AGM replacement from Costco, but I don't expect it to last any longer.
