Battery OPTIMA or YUASA
Ended up finding a red top in the back of the store at Advanced (34R with 800CCA). If you go with Optima know that it takes some modification with the wiring. I needed to remove a cable tie and relocate one of the positive leads. Outback started right up and is running great.
I had a Yellow top optima installed for my subaru around 2015, it lasted until just today - held out well
On my Kia Soluto 3 years and 6 months, it was still ok but I got nervous coz the last PMS recommended that I change it already. I switched to Yuasa and I hope this will also last around the same time.
Yuasa has been the best for me. Running in Hondas, kawasaki, and Harleys. Shortest life span was 3 years on a ratbob I built that constantly had electrical issues draining my battery.
Maybe last year I got a letter from Subaru Canada saying the battery was being recalled and I could get a replacement.
…After I had already replaced it with an Optima Yellow Top.
Yuasa is top end and I would buy over Bosch! I have Yuasa batteries in all my cars now.
Put a Yuasa in the Fiesta when I had it. It worked... I can't say much beyond that.
20 years ago optima was good. Now its 300 dollars for a 50 dollar battery. Used to get them super cheap as a jci employee and they would last made in Colorado but the quality control has been gone for decades.
Yes it's overkill if you don't need it. Standard batteries are perfectly fine for 99% of use cases
It literally is of 0 benefit and in fact they have shown to have a shorter lifetime in these applications.
