Battery OPTIMA or OEM Volkswagen

OPTIMA Battery

Currently running a yellow Optima, 3 years and going strong. I don't recall what the OE battery was but it crapped out after 2 years in mild California weather.

Pros: going strong, three years

OPTIMA Battery

I have a 10 year old yellow top Optima (not even the nicest thing out there) that starts a 440 (often 9 months between starts) every time. I haven't even put a tender on it in the last 5 years.

Pros: starts every time

OPTIMA Battery

Optima seems to be the only brand of cylindrical Pb batteries for automotive use... pretty much every other automotive Pb battery is prismatic.

That's the first I've seen one fail this way.

Cons: fail this way

Red Tops are sh* and have been for 10+ yrs at this point. \nThe last 3 or 4 I had didn't last 2yrs and I got warranty replacements, which also lasted 2yrs. For $300+ they are sh*.

Cons: didn't last 2 years

OEM Volkswagen Battery

On the day of delivery itself, the car wouldn\u2019t start. The dealership jump-started it and said there was a small battery issue, assuring me that it won\u2019t happen again. But from that day onwards, the vehicle has never been reliable.

Cons: unreliable, starting issue
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 1000 km
