Battery OPTIMA or OEM Volkswagen
I have an Optima Red Top battery in my 2006 Dodge Magnum that's at least 5 years old (probably older). It was heavily abused for years. Since then, this battery has been in my daily driver (5.7L V8), and it's still cranking strong with no issues.
I put an Optima Red Top in it when my tester showed it below 75% health, about a year ago.
IMO, the Optima Yellow top is your only option. It will last 5-10 Years.
Absolutely not true. I use an Optima battery, works great. Have for a few years now since my 2nd garbage oem battery went out. Or was it the 3rd?
I installed an Optima yellow top in my 2023 OBW. Works fine!
My wrx would be parked for long periods and I had optima yellow tops. I liked how hard it cranked, good for e85 cold starts. But wow, after the second one went flat I stop getting them. Bought some random battery and it\u2019s been holding charge no problem.
I’ve had my id3 5 years now and had very few problems with the car or charging. I’ll get maybe 180 miles on the motorway but close to 240 miles cross country. Manchester to Sheffield to Nottingham and back to Manchester left me with around 50 miles range, but I can’t get from Manchester to London, or Manchester to Glasgow without charging.
Optima batteries are absolute trash for deep discharge use. Their quality is also not what it used to be. Anytime I see them in marine use, I swap them out for a proper AGM. Only thing they are decent at is starting applications in cars.
I bought a red top.. in like 3 weeks it wasn't taking a charge and it got returned. Never again
From my experiance with the optimal batteries you are better off with a Walmart battery and save money. I tried the optimal 2x. Both failed within a year. They were warranties but the replacements didn't last much longer.
