i've got the yellow top, installed from the previous owner. it doesn't fit my battery cover too well, but boy does the yellowtop have plenty of CCAs, my start is much stronger than my friend's .:R32 (battery from dealer).
I just have a red top Optima in there. It is the only batteries I'll buy after the one in my truck went through so much hell and survived many years of abuse.
I replaced mine with an OEM battery from the dealership. Both mine and my wife's OEM batteries lasted 5+ years. We replaced hers 3 years ago with a Duralast or whatever - starting to leak at the terminal I'll be going back to OEM on hers very shortly.
Mine fit like a glove - no mods - no custom bracket - OEM battery cover fits perfectly.
If you want a great battery get an optima, other than that it's pretty much all the same to me.
Ive had my red top for 5 years no problems...
I've been using a blue optima for about 6 years now and still going strong... Yes yes I know its for marine applications
I liked my old optima. lasted 7 years. I've heard the new ones are Interstate brand now and are no good. I will not buy again based on what I've been hearing. too bad.
I compared the dimensions of both batteries (stock vs Optima) and the Optima is shorter, skinnier, but like 1/4 wider. Optima did not fit, or would not fit without modification to the positive terminal. Ordered the OEM from Keffer.
For the price you pay if you aren't using the car daily, it is a waste of money. I've been through 3 of them now, 2 of which I replaced within there crappy 1 year replacement period.
