I got 7 years out of my 2010 6V Red Top in the Porsche which I replaced with another and recently purchased a 12V Red Top for the Bus. Battery is more expensive than standard but getting 7+ years vs 4 makes it worth while.
The Optima in my Infiniti is 10 years old and still going strong but I've read so many bad things about them recently, I would be hesitant to buy another one.
I have a red top in my 4 motion b6 Passat. I have not had any electrical issues. As long as the optima matches or exceeds the oem battery cca you’ll be fine.
We have one in our 2007 and it has been going strong for almost 7 years.
I had my battery moment on my 2011 Outback, I bought a Duralast Gold 640 CCA and it's been working fine ever since.
Optima battery recommended. Expensive but large capacity for emergencies.
I have become a BIG fan of yellow top optima batteries. Mine tests out OVER 1000 CCA (only about a year old) sealed- Acid can never leak out. Deep cycle, you can run it dead without damage. Good warranty, The the batteries are built to take extreme vibrations, and have a superior design to connect the plates inside with a more solid connection.
So, I replaced it with a new optima battery anyways. Still have the issue.... Moved onto the car alternator. Tested it with my DVOM and it was giving out 13.7V at idle.
I've owned an optima before. Will never buy another one. I used one in my 4x4 to listen to music while camping, play it until the sub cuts out, get a jump, charge it and repeat. Ended up damaging the battery and it would never hold a charge and struggled to start the truck after a weekend of camping. Tossed it out after 2 years.
Optima is not what it used to be. Total and utter crap.
