Battery OEM Toyota or YUASA

YUASA Battery

My Scout sixty battery just died after 5 years. The longest living battery I've had. I went looking for replacements and due to availability and quality I chose the Yuasa YTX14AH-BS. I've used Yuasa in all my previous motorcycles (BMWs) with no problems so when I found they also made batterys for Indians, I bought one. That was just two weeks ago but so far no problems.

Pros: longest living battery
Cons: died after 5 years
Part number: YTX14AH-BS

OEM Toyota Battery

My battery in my Toyota echo is from Toyota and it’s like 12 years old and still starting at -35C so I’d say go with Toyota genuine

Pros: still starting at -35C
Vehicle: Toyota Echo

YUASA Battery

If you change the type from flooded wet cell to AGM, you must code the BCM to change the charging parameters.

Pros: change charging parameters

Can’t attest for AJC but Yuasa is a quality driven company that is widely used as original equipment. If your usage is not critical or if you trust the recommendation of battery clerk then you can go with the cheaper battery, otherwise I strongly recommend Yuasa

Pros: quality driven company
Cons: cheaper battery alternative

Yuasa YTX14AH-BS is the OEM high capacity battery. I don't think there is a better one you can buy, even spending more money.

Pros: high capacity battery
Part number: YTX14AH-BS

Go to Halfords, use their parts search, buy a Yuasa for fifty quid and ride away into the sunset mate.

My last Yuasa outlived the bike!

Ive been really happy with my yuasa battery, its only stuttered to start once this winter(and unfortunately I dont have a garage here so theyve been outside pets for the time being), and that was after sitting for a week waiting for ice to melt, otherwise riding nearly daily and once a month or so conncting it to my battery tender.

Pros: happy with battery
Cons: stuttered to start once

Put a Yuasa in my Street triple and it lasted 1.5 years almost exactly. Would keep it on the tender in cold months every so often, never killed it or discharged it, and still died which was disappointing for the price and the “OEM” brand.

Cons: died after 1.5 years
