Battery Exide or ODYSSEY

ODYSSEY Battery

The Odyssey PC680 is probably the best battery out there, if you can make it fit. I'd stay away from lithiums, you buy those when you are looking to save weight. For reliable low temperature operation, stick with a lead acid thats had decades of development.

Pros: reliable low temperature operation
Cons: fitment can be difficult
Part number: PC680

Exide Battery

AGM power supply/comfort battery replaced. Overall it went without a hitch. I had the choice of an Exide or a Varta AGM from Tayna Baatteries. The Exide with a price discount was about \u00a310 cheaper than the Varta, so I chose that one at \u00a3133 delivered.

Pros: cheaper price, easy install
Cons: clamp back in position

I used straps like the first link when I had an Odyssey battery a few years back. Eventually went back to an OEM one but the straps were an easy solution

Pros: easy solution

I have a half-sized lightweight battery from odyssey. I wouldn't have chosen it, but its never given me any problems and I've been using it for years at this point.

Pros: no problems, long-lasting

Next battery I am going to put in my Passat is going to be something made by Exide . I mentioned before that I changed my OE battery in the winter 2007-2008, was concerned with low temperatures of this winter, but battery seems to do very well, started at 9*F and still work without a problem.

Pros: battery seems to do well

So I have the Odyssey 1200MJT in now and securely mounted with their "HDS mounting strap for 1200/1700 series batteries" from West Coast Batteries. It's mounted in the stock location in my 1994 Corrado VR6.

Pros: securely mounted, stock location
Cons: longer bolt needed
Mileage: 55000 km
Part number: 1200MJT

I use a 790cca Odyssey fmj in the summer and just bought a 590cca battery from Autozone and have a 4 year warranty and it seems to perform better than the oem battery that was killed by my bag setup.

Pros: performs better

ODYSSEY Battery

I used Odysseys PC-680 on other cars, particularly on Evos. They weight about 15lbs and they free up spaces dramatically but the reliability is awful. I went through 3 of them once. They will start the car with a little bit of difficulty but don't try to start the car with the A/C , the radio etc because they can't.

Pros: frees up spaces
Cons: awful reliability
Vehicle: Mitsubishi
Part number: PC680

I ran an Odyssey mini battery in my weekend car, any longer than 2 weeks without driving would drain it. I wouldn't really recommend a mini battery for a daily, if your car doesn't start after 2-3 tries, you might be stuck lol.

Cons: drains quickly, not recommended
